Honey Brown is the author of six critically acclaimed novels. Her first release, Red Queen (2009), won the Aurealis Award, and was shortlisted for the Australian Shadow Award and Davitt Award. The Good Daughter(2011) was longlisted for the Miles Franklin Award and shortlisted for the Barbara Jefferis Award. Last year, Brown’s fourth novel, Dark Horse(2013), won the 2014 Sisters In Crime Davitt Award for best novel. Her latest release, Six Degrees (2015), explores edgier elements of the rural romance genre. In her late twenties she was involved in a farm accident, resulting in a spinal injury. It was this life-changing event that led to a focus on writing.
Can’t forget: Jerzy Kosinski’s The Painted Bird. It’s such an unsettling and unrelenting novel, just thinking about it unnerves me.
