Dose Matters

In Dose Matters, Dr Simon Dimmitt explores how smaller, smarter drug doses can often deliver the same benefits – with fewer side effects, lower costs, and better long-term outcomes. Drawing on decades of medical practice and research, he explains why and how modern medicines often work best when carefully adjusted to each individual.

From aspirin and antibiotics to blood pressure and mental health treatments, Dimmitt shows how to find the ‘sweet spot’ where benefit outweighs risk and reminds us that good medicine is not just about what we prescribe, but how much.

In this book, you will discover:

• Why ‘more’ medicine isn’t always better

• How drug effects and side effects change with dose

• The science behind clinical trials, variability, and therapeutic response

• Practical strategies for ‘starting low and going slow’ in real-world care

Accessible, evidence-based, and full of real-world insight, Dose Matters is an eye-opening guide for anyone who takes – or prescribes – medications. It’s about making medicine safer, simpler, and truly personal.
