The Lore of Whisky
The Lore of Whisky takes a broad look at the world of whisky from its origins [ancient distilling practices] to the perfecting of single malts and the creation of exquisite blends. Scotland, Ireland, America and Australia come under the spotlight along with many of the other countries that contribute to Whisky’s story.
The Lore of Whisky will provide its readers with insight into the origins of whisky and trace it as it morphs into the whisky with which we are familiar today. It covers the methods of whisky making from distillation through to its ageing process in casks and barrels. It examines the differences between Irish and Scotch whisky, and Canadian and American ‘Whiskey’ and also bourbon. It looks at how the governments of the past three centuries impacted on the business of booze production / sometimes ‘moonshine’ and how they penalised distillers to fill their coffers.
